Newstoday, Kuantan Singingi - Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno opened the 2022 Pacu Lan Festival (long boat racing) in Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regency, Riau Province, Sunday (21/8/2022).
Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno came to be greeted with great fanfare by the people of Kuansing and tens of thousands of festival-goers who packed Limuno Square, Teluk Kuantan.
In his remarks, Minister Sandiaga Salahudin Uno said that the cultural arts festival that had been preserved for hundreds of years did not only greet Riau Province, but also greeted the world.
"It's time for Kuansing (Kuantan Singingi) to become one of the national and world tourist destinations," he said in his speech.
Meanwhile, the Acting Regent of Kuantan Singingi Regency Suhardiman Amby said that it had been two years since the Pacu Jalur Festival had not been carried out due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
"After getting the permit, the 2022 Pacu Path Festival was successfully held, an event that not only the Kuansing people, but the Riau people and others have been waiting for," he said.
The Chairperson of the Pacu Jakur Festival Committee, Dedi Sambudy, said that there were hundreds of track participants who were ready to fight on the Narosa Edge, Teluk Kuantan City 2022 for five days, namely on August 21-25, 2022.
In filling the festival, the committee also organizes dance performances, vocal arts and a number of grabbing attractions to entertain the public at night.
During the festival, there is also a bazaar event, hundreds of traders from various cities/provinces in Indonesia also take advantage of the opportunity to earn sustenance.
"Let's celebrate the 2022 Pacu Jalur Festival, in order to revive the passion of tourism in Kuantan Singingi Regency and Riau Province," he said.
The tradition of the people of Kuantan Singingi Regency which in 2022 is entering its 119th year. A total of 178 routes (long wooden boats) from Kuantan Singingi Regency and Indragiri Hulu Regency participated in the event that the community had been waiting for.(yk/ant)
